To Rant, Or Not To Rant. Well, Not Really.
It really isn’t a question. Or anywhere as dramatic as Shakespeare. We all rant. Twitter gives us 140 characters. Facebook gives us 480. I average a word count of 1,000 to tell my wife what I want for dinner.
So, yeah, I’m kind of wordy. I’m also kind of opinionated.
But I like to think I’m more Rachel Maddow opinionated than Glenn Beck opinionated. I don’t mean liberal/conservative, necessarily. I’m pretty schizo- at times when it comes to political ideology. I also don’t mean a lunatic chalkboard, because while I don’t have one, I…um…totally would. What I mean is that I try to actually back up my thoughts and opinions with facts based in science or numbers — not just the tiny slice of the world I have experienced.
Much of this blog will be devoted to current events, politics, social commentary and the like. It would be exclusive, because as someone who schizophrenically rants, I will touch as my other interests — like sports and video games — or other random topics that I find interested and want to share on my blog. It will be devoted to politics and current events because I’ve spent the last ten years either studying politics and public policy, working in party politics (I’ve been on the payroll of both political parties), or working on campaigns and issue drives. However, I’m no longer an ‘insider’ — for a variety of reasons — that you’ll probably figure out from reading this blog.
I don’t know how or why or when I ended up in this position I’m in. I’ve started to feel distant again, so I decided to pick up this blog and put my ramblin’ rhetoric in my mind into the blogosphere.
